ART CAMP KENYA
Hanka diriguje

My name is Hanka Fišerová. For many years I taught piano and music theory at a music school and also conducted the national Czech Christian choir Effatha. In 2024 I answered God's call, wrapped everything up and handed it over. I set off for a year-long missionary stay in western Kenya — building on my two previous visits to the same area, around the town of Bonda in western Kenya, close to Lake Victoria.

Everything was made possible thanks to Pastor Paul, who has been working in the local community for a long time, has its trust, and knows its needs. He cares deeply about practical help for those in need, but above all the spiritual growth of the local community, especially the younger generation.

From our collaboration came the idea to run Christian camps for children and young people in rural Kenya and create a space where they could grow in their relationship with God. At the same time they could develop their sporting and artistic abilities — things they have few opportunities for in Kenya. Effatha does something similar musically every summer in Litomyšl; we simply expanded it to all artistic disciplines. Through art we want to show the local community the character of God and inspire them towards further growth and their own expression of their relationship with God and the world around them.

MEET THE TEAM

The team for this year is still forming, but we already know that most of the leaders from last year's European and Kenyan team are returning, and new members have joined them — which means we will have new workshops too!

We are all volunteers who give their time, finances and effort to the work God has called us to and brought us together for. We want to share our lives, gifts and life with God with young people.

RÁCHEL

RÁCHEL

Hi, I'm Ráchel and I'm an Anthropology student. I love all kinds of creative activities — from sewing and singing to cooking and planning projects. At ArtCamp I'll be running the cooking workshop. This is my first time taking part in the project and I'm really looking forward to the challenges it will bring and everything we'll be able to learn together.

VINCENT BWIRE

VINCENT BWIRE

Hi! I'm a student currently on attachment, looking forward to completing my programme. I have a deep passion for serving God through singing and I'm committed to this journey of faith. I also enjoy cooking — that will be my main area at ArtCamp, alongside other roles. I'm excited and eagerly waiting to welcome the amazing team. To all who are coming — KARIBUNI KENYA!

HANKA FIŠEROVÁ

HANKA FIŠEROVÁ

I am a piano and music theory teacher. I conducted the Effatha choirs for many years and now I live in western Kenya, in the area around the town of Bondo. Together with the Matuškas, we want to bring God's life and His hope to the local community. We have been running ArtCamps here for the third year now, and I look forward to following them up with more individual programmes for interested participants next year and during future holidays.

KRYŠTOF PRUDIL

KRYŠTOF PRUDIL

Hi, I'm a high school student who loves God, music and nature. You'll rarely see me without a guitar or some similar stringed instrument, and when I'm not making music, I'm listening to it. I'm going to Kenya for the first time and I'm heading to ArtCamp to share my joy of music — specifically I'll be teaching guitar and ukulele. I'm excited to see what God wants to teach us all through the coming together of cultures and relationships!

PETRA PEŠKOVÁ

PETRA PEŠKOVÁ

Hi, I'm Petra. I'm a facilitator of creative educational programmes for children and youth. I love Jesus. This is my first trip to Africa — at ArtCamp I'll be involved in the singing and drama workshop. I'm really looking forward to it and expecting a great wave of God's hope and shared joy.

MONIKA DROBKOVÁ

MONIKA DROBKOVÁ

Hi, my name is Monča and I'm a new circus instructor. I teach children and youth modern dance, juggling, balancing, acrobatic tricks, aerial skills and fire performances — and that's exactly what I'll be doing at ArtCamp in Kenya. My favourite colour is blue. I love horse riding and enjoy travelling and discovering new people and cultures.

TOMÁŠ HANTÁK

TOMÁŠ HANTÁK

Hi, my name is Tom. I'm a content creator and I love music. Through playing drums I want to bring praise to God, and at ArtCamp I want to show the children how they can do the same. I also want to capture the authentic atmosphere of ArtCamp so that you too can see how the Lord is moving and working with the locals.

MILKA NEKOLNÁ

MILKA NEKOLNÁ

Hi, my name is Milka and I teach violin at a music school. For almost ten years I have been working with children of various ages, and I am grateful to once again be part of a project that connects art with encouraging young people in faith and in knowing God. ArtCamps are deeply meaningful to me…

ELIŠKA POLÍVKOVÁ

ELIŠKA POLÍVKOVÁ

I teach Czech, music and art at secondary school level, and I'm heading to Kenya for the third time — again as co-leader of the craft workshop. I find the time at ArtCamp to be a wonderful opportunity to witness how God changes people's hearts (including mine!), or at least how attitudes can begin to shift. It's also great to see the children learning new artistic skills. The collaboration with Kenyan Christians and young leaders enriches me greatly. I'm grateful for the connections we've been able to build over three years — and I look forward to seeing what else will happen in western Kenya.

TERKA VIKOVÁ

TERKA VIKOVÁ

My name is Teri and I work in visual art. At ArtCamp I'd love to do sculptural objects with the children. I'd like them — through this experience — to discover that they can positively influence the space they live in; to bring joy, colour and creativity into it and to make use of local materials. I'd love for them to understand in the process that the ability to create is God's fingerprint in us — and that with that realisation, everything is just beginning…

Hi! I'm David Tobias, a third-year chemistry undergraduate. In making the science laboratory another place of worship, I am grateful to Father God for this opportunity to be at ArtCamp Kenya for the first time. Our future generations need hope above everything — and hope is also found in science. Hallelujah!
